Finding My Other Mother

There are many books available about what it's like growing up being adopted, tips on how to search for your birth-parents, touching stories of reunions, and many guides about the in and outs of lifelong searches.  My memoir focuses on another aspect in "Adoption" which is rarely discussed:  What happens after you find your birthmother or birthfather?  How does your adoptive family react?  How does the biological family react?  Is is possible to maintain some sort of relationship after all the hoopla settles?
What we have been exposed to thus far on television shows like Oprah and the random newspaper or magazine story focus only on the moment the reunion takes place with lost family members.  Although highly entertaining, these are short sentimentalized stories that only brush the surface of the actual reality of what really happens post-reunion.
My memoir delves into this unrevealed area. I did not write my story only to tell how or why I searched for my birth-mother as there are so many books currently flooding the market on this topic.  My memoir, however, was written to share with everyone the true repercussions that inevitably occur after  being reunited with a birth-parent.  My story vividly tells what happens after "Finding My Other Mother".

My memoir in e-book only $6.00!

My publisher offers my memoir, The Sound of Hope in e-book format for only $6.00.  This is cheaper than most books available on Kindle and the Nook.  The e-book downloads directly to your computer.   Amazon also has my memoir new and used from independent sellers starting at around seven dollars.  I have purchased books from the independent sellers before on Amazon and always had good results and saved lots off of the original price Amazon and Barnes & Noble offers.
Happy Reading!!

June 24, 2011: Governor Christie conditionally vetoes Adoptees’ Birthright Bill

Governor Christie conditionally vetoes Adoptees’ Birthright Bill
as reported on http://www.nj-care.org/

"Morristown, NJ, June 24rd, 2011 – NJCARE and the nationwide adoption community are shocked and
dismayed that Governor Christie conditionally vetoed the Adoptee’s Birthright Bill, S799 on Thursday. S799
would have allowed adult adoptees to receive a copy of their original birth certificates upon request. It would
have offered past relinquishing parents a full year following enactment to request removal of their name and
address from the copy of the original birth certificate released to the requesting party. Governor Christie has
chosen instead to turn his back on the rights of New Jersey adopted citizens.
"

I still haven't heard any updates and really what does "conditionally vetoes" this bill even mean? Either you veto it or you don't.  Been waiting for news as to what this conditionally veto means.   I guess in the meantime I still can't access my original birth certificate!  Seems kinda silly that a 45 year old citizen in America is not allowed to know what name was on their original birth certificate.  This is the reason I wrote my memoir, not so much for the adoption community who are aware of the limitations placed on adult adoptees, but for the general public in order to raise awareness of a civil rights issue they don't even know exists within the adoption community!
Where are you civil rights activists???  We need you!!!
